AGING…What’s Fragrance Got to do with It?

Scientists now know that certain scents stimulate the brain to release hormones for reduced stress, improved memory, altered heart rate and enhanced feelings of happiness.

The aroma of Lavender has been used through the ages to reduce stress which is a contributing factor of aging.  The essential oils of lavender can reduce the release of cortisol in a matter of minutes.  Cortisol is a stress hormone that triggers inflammation, a definite factor in premature aging. In addition, recent studies have shown that lavender may augment antioxidant actions in the body.  Jasmine and rose also create a sense of calm and are good for stress relief.

Citrus which is great for our bodies is also good for the mind.  The invigorating scents of grapefruit, lemon, lime and orange create a sense of well-being. So, improve your spirits with the sweet smell of the Rutaceae family of flowering plants.

Melt away anxieties with the comforting fragrances of Sandalwood, pines and cedars. They promote a peaceful mood and have been used throughout history to improve the mental, physical and emotional well-being of mankind.

It’s great to be able to offer all of that on an air freshener!

Refreshing the World One Air Freshener at a Time

Scent is an interesting thing.  A baby’s first experience with scent is identifying its mother.  Throughout childhood, we collect memories laden with scents.

Scents evoke memories and make our world a more interesting place.  The scent of a grandmother’s rose garden is brought to mind as an adult smelling the fragrance of a single rose.  The scent of bubble gum, the smell of a campfire, the ocean, and freshly cut grass all are deeply imbedded in our memories.

Two of my earliest childhood memories associated with scent are the way the air smells right before a thunderstorm.  The sudden electricity and ozone refreshing the air long before the first cloud appears on the horizon takes me back to summers past.  Memories of our holiday dinners with the aroma of succulent foods, candles and flowers bring back happy thoughts of my family and friends.

Our best-selling fragrances are Vanilla Bean, Wild Berry, and a floral mix, Plumeria.  Interesting!  They can be related back to childhood.  Fresh baked cookies, fruits picked right from the vine and sweet-smelling flowers!  Click here to see our refreshing fragrances.

How can fragrance affect the aging process?  That’s next time.

Air Trends International

Hello, and welcome to the Air Trends International blog.  Air Trends was created in 1996 to make whimsical air fresheners, because trees and leaves seemed a little boring to us.  We started out with fabulous animal prints, aliens, angels, and a great line of monster designs from acclaimed artist, Gary Barker.  Since then, we’ve expanded our focus to include promotional and specialized custom car air fresheners for the global market as well as individual use.  Click here to see some of our favorites.

Fragrance is an interesting subject, and in a future blog, I hope to talk about the effects of scent and how it affects our lives. I’d also like to tell you a little about some of the new things we are doing in custom printing. Please check back for new postings. I’ll do my best to inform you and hopefully inspire you to look at fragrance in a whole new way.

Thanks for visiting,

David
